Run For the Roses....Post Edit Link At Bottom

I have run many Kentucky Derbies in my lifetime. As a little girl that was my favorite thing in the world to pretend. Wether it was on my horse Sheba, that I used to "race" in the front pasture or saddling up the fence rail and racing on "The Black" (I was a huge fan of The Black Stallion movie and books). My most recent past time is curling up in Meliss's basement and watching the movie Seabiscuit on her gi-hugie projector screen. The familiy is starting to boycott this pastime though. What? You can't watch a movie more than 3 Sunday's in a row? Come on! Seabiscuit is one of my top 5 fav movies of all time by the way. Never seen it? YOU MUST! Just for the era of history that it features is worth a viewing. Not to mention Jeff Bridges as Charles Howard is better than cream cheese frosting on carrot cake. Yes, he is that good in this movie. Really.

Anywho, back to the subject. The Derby is this weekend. Our family loves The Derby. Last year, seriously was Seabiscuit in real life, except better. Yup, I said it. It was better. The Derby had 4 horses flown in from Dubai. They had ritzy, glamorous horses from all over the country. They also had a little horse from the south that arrived in his trainers trailer. Driven by his......trainer. Mine That Bird was his name and take a look here to see what that little horse accomplishes. Just so you know, when the announcers are talking about Calvin, that is the jockey of Mine That Bird. Also the announcer they are talking to with the name of Gary, Plays George Wolf in Seabiscuit. Ahhhhhhh, I think he is strangely hot. Go figure. Don't know if there will ever be another Derby quite like this one. We will just have to see what tomorrow brings.

This is the original announcers at the time of the race. Listen to him call it, he doesn't even know which horse it is because the horse was such an underdog. Here is the link

And So It Begins.............Post Edit [see below]

Well today is a monumental day for this family. My Grandma Johnnie is 89 today. I can't believe she is 89. She is and has always been a shining example of woman to me. She is an amazing mother and grandmother. Her home has always ment comfort and good food. A place where we could never get enough of. I need to call her today. Happy Birthday Grams.

This day is also a sacred day for our family one of private meaning but it does hold special meaning to us. It is also a marker of time. I can't believe it has been such a long time.

I don't usually post such details about my family on this blog but since I have yet to begin a family blog, I will post this little tid bit also. Meg's last prom is this weekend. It is the beginning of many lasts for us and this girl. The month of May brings a whirlwind of festivities. I truly and honestly can't even believe that she is graduating. Let me just say this, I AM NOT READY TO LET GO! In any way, shape or form. I try on a daily basis to come up with the advantages of her absence in our lives. But it falls short, always short. She is beautiful, she is our sweet girl and she is ready to go out on her own.

Breathe mamma.It's gonna be OK.

Happy April 29th~ Mamie

PS)The spoon rings were a huge sucess, I have ordered 5 more if you would like one.

PPS)Called my Gram tonight. How cute is this? She had a wonderful day! Her boys took her out to dinner last night. Today, she went to lunch with Eleanor and Lois and sat on a patio and had latte's for hours. Said it was wonderful, had no place to hurry off to. I just love that lady! She is pretty darn amazing!(have I mentioned that before?)

April 20th Is Here!

Today is a wonderful day, although history would like you to believe otherwise! I have a dear neice and a dear friend who were born on this day. I also have been waiting patiently for this movie to come out on dvd. I saw it 5 times at the theatre and it is easily in my top 3 movies of all time.

I had a hard time finding it for sale. I didn't check Target but Costco and Walmart did not have it. It wasn't very popular when it was released. I had to see it in Scotsdale, but it was worth the drive every time.

I am a romantic, through and through. I also have a rebellious streak in me and this movie appeased both of those emotions. It struck my core. I just loved the relationship between Victoria and Albert. Theirs was a love that is not often found in the history of people in power. It is a beautiful story. Rent it, buy it but do watch it. You will thank me.

Ring, Ring.........May I Take Your Order Please? Part II

Ok, I have 2 more spoons left, 5 are taken. If you want one of these, just let me know!

Spring Is In The Air.........

Spring 2
[27$]
This turned out sooooooo cute! Agh, I am lovin it. The chain measures 16 inches. Iridescent rosary beads , removable clip make this piece completely removable. I think I may wear this today, just to try it out! This would be great for Mother's Day.

For Kate

This piece was made for my friend Kate's birthday. Thought you may want to see it.

Pretty in Pink

[27$]

I posted this last week I just wanted you to get a better look. I love the vintage watch face that I used. It adds just the right touch. The ceramic rose cabochon in the center makes it so soft. This would be a great Mother's Day gift.

Italy

[19$]

I used black and white rosary beads attached them to a silver chain and finished it with my favorite vintage clock face. It is so unique, in the center are tiny little flowers, it just looked kind of Italian. The stamped key with the little red flowers go perfectly with it.
Check here to see how to order!

I Talk the Talk..........

I usually don't have very many positive things to say about living here in Arizona. I know, I know this is not news to most of you I have never been shy about this matter. However, there are many things here that I really do love. Putting aside our wonderful friendships that we have made over the years. That is too easy. We have been blessed when it comes to friends that is for sure!

1-I love the lizards. I think they are so cute, especially the baby ones on my tree out front. They are so tiny!

2-I love the bike trails, along with the long season we have to ride bikes.

3-I love my hummingbirds. They are all over. When I let my feeder run out, I have a coup on my hands. I love all the birds down here, we get so many unique and interesting ones.

4-I love the movie theatres. This is quite a luxury. The kick back seats, refillable popcorn and soda's. That is living. And not to mention they have flavors to flavor your popcorn with. That almost puts me over the edge.

Well I am sure there is more, I will think of them. But for now I want to go read my book.

Just a Fun Idea.....

On the same shopping trip to Ikea, I found this hurricane vase and thought it would look good turned upside down as a terrarium. I have always wanted one of these but have never wanted to shell out the mula for them. I still have work to do with it, but all in all it cost less than 20$ for the whole thing including the plant. I think it would be so cute to glue a clear knob on top. I just need to find the knob.

Ya gotta love Ikea!

Flower Frames

Set of 3
[45$]
Meliss and I found these darling prints at Ikea. They were so sweet. We both had to have them, they come in sets of 3. Then we shot over to Home Goods and found the most hideous frames we could find, you see when it comes to spray paint ya gotta find the ugliest it usually turns out the best. Just sharing a secret of the trade. They are so cute. Just had to share. [The prints are 8x10, just in case you wanted to know]

Pink Candelabra

Do you see that sweet baby pink candelabra in the back ground? I was trying to do something unique with it for Easter but that was during my creative strike! It can be yours if you'd like. These frames are coming up too, I just have to pick up the prints from Meliss sometime. They are fantastic!

I am Glad I am Not a Hoarder!

I love this piece too! It is made from several different pieces of jewelery. The chain measures a little over 12 inches. It is definitely true vintage with the exception of the stamped metal key.

The lower pendant has a brushed copper backing with a vintage watch face with a ceramic rose cabochon in the center. The bigger pendant has a true vintage rose colored button at the center.

These Bracelets are so fun! The black one on the right and the brown and blue one in the middle are made from vintage buttons and charms. These are definitely one of a kind, and can be adjusted to fit your wrist! Right now they will fit a 7 inch wrist. The bracelet on the left is so sweet and simple. I've taken faux pearl pastel green cabochons and attached them to a flat bracelet. It is large fitting and 8 inch wrist but can be taken down. All I need is your wrist size!

[These bracelets are 19$ each]

[Ireland]

27$
I'm deeply attached to this piece. I truly love it! The bottom bling is taken from an old clip on earing, the next piece is taken from an old pin I found sifting through a pile at one of my antique stops. It attaches to the irradesant rosary bead/brushed copper chain with a clip that makes this neckalace totally interchangeable [Meliss's idea]. This chain measures 13 inches without the pendant.

******SOLD******
[Spring]
22$
This piece as ALWAYS is one of a kind. I loved this pendant, I love birds and this little treasure spoke to me when I came across it. So did this necklace, I combined to two to come up with a little bit of springtime magic. Hope you love it as much as I do! This chain measures 12 inches in length.

MIA...........

I have no idea where I have been. Here and there mostly......

I do have some super cute stuff to post, but honestly I just have not felt like posting it. Is that allowed?

I have been up to good and no good, in the past few weeks I have done things like stand in line for 7 hours to try out for The Biggest Loser. Go on long relaxing bike rides. Hole up in my room watching endless hours of CSI. Tote my kids around, some days I spend hours in the car. Give a helping hand when needed. Laugh, Cry, and sometimes both at the same time.

I am not really sure, I will be back though. Just keep checkin.......
