My Wheels Are Turning

I have many ideas, my mind is spinning and I am trying to focus on a few things so I don't overwhelm myself. I tend to do that sometimes. I am excited for the new year and all of the brightness that accompanies it. I will be posting soon, if you have any requests please feel free to comment. I look forward to hearing from you. I can't seem to get clocks out of my head. So check back to see what is new!

Love you!

For Me, Really?

I got home today and some sweet person left this book on my door step. My heart is so full of joy, I have wanted this book for sometime but you know how that is. I just haven't wanted to shell out the dough. So whoever the little elf was that left me this please know you just made my whole day. Thank you so much, it meant the world to me. Love, Amie

Hiatus

If you haven't guessed, I am on a craft hiatus, just until after Christmas. I needed to buckle down and get ready for the big day. But I will be back, I have some great ideas cooked up for New Years and Valentines. So keep checking on me, I will be back!

One of my guilty pleasures

I am totally behind on my movie watching schedule. One of my favorite things to do while the kids are in school is to go to a movie. By myself. It is really relaxing and I really don't mind doing it alone. This way I can see the movies I want to see, and if they are worth seeing again I will go with Scott. But I am behind. And now Christmas is coming and a whole bunch of new movies are coming out. I did finally take the girls to see New Moon last weekend. I liked it, glad I saw it and I think I am a Jacob fan now.
These are some of the movies I want to see: If you have seen them, let me know if they are a see now or a wait to rent.
The Blind Side
Me and Orson Wells
Old Dogs
The Lovely Bones
Everybodys Fine
Invictus
Nine
The Young Victoria
Sherlock Holmes
Far too many to be able to see. Right now the critics on TV are saying you have to see Avatar. I really have no desire to see that one. But that will probably be the one I end up seeing. Oh well, that is the way the cookie crumbles.

I Still Have A Lot To Do! Do You?

I have quite a bit left to do for Christmas. Like ordering this coat for Meg's. I love it and I know she will too. Ry just told me last night she wanted a long grey cardigan sweater I wonder if this is what she had in mind. I need to mail my out of town gifts. That is on my list for tomorrow.

But, I WILL NOT stress. I want to enjoy this magical time of year. Savoring little comments from my last little believer who asked me just the other day. " Mom, do you think Santa Claus and Jesus know each other?" I melted, and then called Scott. He still believes, and for that I am grateful.

We had a tornado of a weekend as I am sure you did too. It feels good though, we got it all done. All that had to be done anyways. Yesterday was stake conference. It was so good. I learned much, I needed it. Just to reaffirm to me that I am on the right track. These are a few thoughts that struck me.

"Life can be hard, but we can do hard things."Sister Layton
"Our Father in Heaven has organized families to help us come home to him." President Clark Tilley
" As we listen to the spirit, great things will happen in our life." President David Lameraux
" You can't be inconsistent and know where to go. " President Robert Hicken

Thanks for letting me share. It is going to be a good day.

PS) Here is a little treat for the little ones or for you, I had fun doing it!

My Dream Tree

This is my dream tree. I found this picture last year in a book that I get most of my ideas out of called Merry and Bright, by Country Living Magazine. I tried hard to attempt this tree last year. This year we brought home a well lets just say a more petite size tree from IDAHO, so I'm thinking no matter what I do it will not look like this tree. Thats ok, it was great to bring our tree all the way from IDAHO. You should have seen it, it was about 4 feet longer than the burb and it just boinggged boinggged all the way home. Pretty classic.

Ok, back to the point of this post. I have not yet decorated my tree. I don't know why but this year I have been distracted and haven't done it yet. So hopefully by Sunday night I can post a picture of our little tree. And hopefully by posting this on here it will motivate me to get the Christmas spirit and start decorating!

Love ya, Amie

Mr. Heat Miser

We love this show and look forward to it all year long. Scott especially loves it when heat miser sings his song. Throughout the year when I wake up with really messy hair he will sing it to me as I get out of bed. Well, this is what my hair looks like this morning. No wonder Colin looked at me funny when I answered the door this morning.

Merry Christmas!
If you want to order any of the items below. You can leave a comment or e-mail me at arsnow@hotmail.com. We can work out the details. Love ya, have a great day!

That's one fried pussy cat!

If you haven't noticed I am quoting from Christmas movies for my post titles. I am not sure why, I just felt like it!

Ok, this piece is really quite amazing. I bought it in the fall and once again felt like I needed to wait for inspiration to finish it. So I waited and then suddenly last week I whipped out my trusty Modge Podge and let it work its magic. I had all these scrap repo- vinatge pictures, I just started pasting them on immediately fell in love with it! I showed it to Meliss, who also fell in love with it. She said she wanted it. I fully intended to sell it until Jen came in the picture. Ah, Jen. What can I say about Jen except that she should be the master shopper. Santa needs to hire her for consulting if not Santa, maybe husbands. Jen had my name for our annual book club gift exchange. Jen gave me a little bit o heaven in a box all wrapped up in the coolest scarf I have ever seen. The box was adorned with the most amazing ornament that I am turning into a necklace. Inside she gave me these scissors you can see in the picture, 2 rolls of bakery twine on little wooden spools one red the other green. [I just wanted to cry I loved them so much] A custom made stamp made just for Mamie's by Three Designing Women and a sweet little hankie from Anthropology. It was so neat to receive something so carefully thought out. I was very very touched. So, what does that have to do with the box you say? Well those scissors look really cute in it, so does the twine. I placed all sorts of other goodies in it for wrapping, tags, tinsel and such. I had to keep it. I told Meliss the news. She said "ok, just don't sell it to anyone else."

Merry Christmas! Keep checking back, I am working on New Years and Valentines. Plus my mom has made some SUPER cute bibs. With chennile backing and the sweetest vintage fabric with a magnet for a latch! I can't wait!

*******I have an extra treat for you if you can guess what Christmas movie this title comes from! Post it in the comment section.

Im just a cottonheaded ninnymuggins...........

I am so excited to show you these! I took this idea from my most favorite magazine, Country Living. It is a huge old frame, with brass wire strung from side to side to hang your Christmas cards from. The gold one in the picture in the middle is a bit smaller measuring 16 x 20. I have decorated clothes pins with goodies to use as clips to hold your card in place! Such a different twist with an old idea.

Modge Podge

Ode to Modge Podge
Modge Podge, what would I do without you? You help me create, glorious works of art[this is my ode I can think what I want] It was a wonderful day when I found out that you not only came in matte finish, glossy finish, satin finish, outside hard as rock finish, brushstroke finish[whatever that means,] glow in the dark finish, shimmer finish, but now GLITTER IN SILVER AND GOLD! finish! Yes you of all things modge, never ever cease to amaze me. And lets not forget, at the end of the day, when crafting is done what my favorite part about you is. The little patches of Modge Podge that I find on my skin that I can peel off just like a fake sunburn. You are the best Modge Podge. Don't ever forget that.

*****My spell check doesn't believe that the word Modge Podge is a word. Somethings just aren't right with this world.

Ok, I just found out that you can buy Modge Podge by the gallon, so ha spell check. Put that in your pipe. Just sayin.

A Sneak Preview

I have been busy, and just wanted to give you a quick glance! I am so proud of this batch of goodies. I know your gonna love em! I will post them tomorrow.

Reflection

I awoke with a start this morning. I had a bad dream, I decided to call it and go ahead and get up. My heart was a little troubled and I wanted to look for a nativity video on the web. I found this one instead. It was exactly what I needed. I want to do better, be better. Love more and forgive often. I needed this today, I hope you don't mind me sharing. Tis the Season, remember the reason.

It was a good one.....[post editing at bottom]

Mmmmmmmm....it was so good. I am a Thanksgiving girl. I have a theory that you shouldn't waste space on other goodies. You should just enjoy the big 3. Turkey, stuffing and potatoes. I did however sneak in some yams. (they were really good) Hope you had a good one. I am ready to get back to work!
****Is it really really bad that I think I am going to cook a turkey for dinner this Sunday. I just can't get enough of it! Mmmmmmmmmmm, I need turkey now!****
If that is bad, I really don't want to know about it!

Month for Thanks...........

I am grateful for this fountain, and the beautiful park that goes with it. I am grateful for the company of friends and the tradition of a picnic on a lazy Sunday afternoon. I look forward to this outing a couple times of year. I am grateful to see Haley my friends daughter home from college, for the first time since she left this last summer. She has grown and changed in so many ways, college has been good to her. It was hard watching her go, seeing her family miss her. Knowing that my turn to let my little ones leave the nest is not far away. But today, spending time with her I know that this change is necessary one. Good things come from it.

Chicken Nuggies

I made this last night for dinner. I had forgotten how good they were. And how much my fam loves them. The recipe comes from my long time friend Karen. I should have taken a pic. Oh well, there were not any left on the plate that is for sure!

Chicken Nuggets:

[i usually double]

3 chicken breast, washed. trimmed and cut into nice sized chunks.
1 egg beaten
1/3 cup water
1/3 cup flour
1 tsp. accent seasoning
1/2 tsp.salt
2 good tsp. of sesame seeds
Mix all this up in shallow dish

Heat enough oil up in a skillet, test a piece of batter dipped chicken to see if it is bubbly.
Take your chicken pieces, dip them into batter and fry, yes I know. But it is good. You fry them in a skillet. Let them get nice and golden on one side then turn over and do the same.

Place them on a cookie sheet or plate with paper towels.

We like ours with ranch, or bbq sauce.

Enjoy!

With a glitter pillar candle
[18$]
I am loving this, I know I say that all the time but that is because I only make what I would buy myself. So that makes it so where I really love everything I make. If I don't love it, I work on it until I love it! Take this piece for example, I originally did this for Halloween, but it just didn't work, tried out fall on it, nope not that either. Finally last night I got this whim to spray paint it, add my new favorite kitchsy glitter poinsettia's and it turned out really fun. I can't decide to put an ornament on top or a glitter candle. What do you think?

Merry Merry Christmas!

Aqua and Red Candlesticks

Aqua and Green Christmas.............

Vintage Candlesticks
[19$]
I was just reading today at Allsorts, [a blog listed on my sidebar] and they were talking about an aqua and green Christmas. At a boutique I went to last week, the decorations, signs and bags were all aqua and green. This must be all the fancy this year. How wonderful, these colors compliment each other so well. These wooden candlesticks are old, but I didn't like the dark wood color they were. So I painted them antique white, added a glitzy tiny poinsettia with a splash of ribbon. And well, they turned out fabulous! Hurry if you want them, a little birdie told me they would go fast!

Month for Thanks.............

My heart is full.

It was a wonderful, busy, weekend. We have extra children with us this weekend so our house was a beehive buzzing with activity all weekend long.

Friday night was brisk and rainy as we took a little jaunt to our ward campout to join our ward family for some chili and good conversation by the fire. Then we cheated and snuck back home to sleep in our toasty warm beds. That is what has become of us since we became city folk, we are a little wimpy when it comes to sleeping out in the dessert.

Saturday morning arrived all to soon. My little guy Corm had Lacrosse game. He scored 2 goals, it was sunny, cool and so fun to watch.

We had date night, it went a little awry. We improvised and came home and watched a movie upstairs without the company of the kids. That was nice.

Sunday came. I found myself sitting in church with 9 children. NINE! They were so cute, and so quiet, for a moment I wished they were all mine. But just for one moment. I was all to happy to accommodate the little boy sitting next to me who asked me to take him to the potty.[he is only 3] My heart melted. He knows he has me wrapped around his little finger.

My favorite part of the weekend though was when a phone call came, just after dinner. I was able to talk for over an hour to someone who can out talk me on the phone. I haven't talked to her in a long time. Too long, I am afraid to admit. I was glad she called, she is one of my favorite people in the whole wide world. It was nice, comforting and went by way to fast. It is good that I get to see her in 2 weeks.

I love you Lor, thanks for calling.

Roller Coaster part 2

Thursday, November 12, 2009

Month for Thanks............Day, well I stopped counting.

Do you remember the movie Parenthood?

At the end the sweet little ol' Grandma rambles on about life and such. She compared life to that of a merry-go-round and a roller coaster. She said life is more like the roller coaster it has ups and downs, highs and lows. You hold on for the ride, you can't have the highs without the lows. I love that part in that movie.

Would I rather have the slow and steady ride of the merry-go-round? Or the fast paced ride of the roller coaster? Sometimes I think I would prefer the merry-go-round, it would be easier that is for sure. But ya know, call me crazy but I think this roller coaster that I am on is pretty amazing. I hoping one day it will all be worth it. I guess for that, I am grateful.

Just a reminder................
