Merry Christmas.....Just Thought I'd Share

I choose not to decorate in full this year.

I took many short cuts.






But I think it turned out Ok, considering.

I'm A Psycho....2010 Holiday Movies!

Well, well, well.....I can almost see it. The light at the end of a very long tunnel. Mamie's is wrapped up and I am enjoying the thrills of giving and receiving. I delivered my friend and neighbor gifts this evening. Feels good to check that off. This year I purchased home-made soap from my mother and packaged them up cute like. It was different and smelled wonderful. She makes incredible soap. I love using it, if you are interested in getting any please leave me a comment. She would love to hook you up with some. I am not just saying this because she is my Momma. It is divine.

I am behind this year, as I mentioned a few posts back but it is all working out ok. We have a surprise coming up, I can't wait to tell you about it and how it all played out. I hope it just brings more joy and love to Christmas.

Ok- Christmas movie must sees. Here is my list. Keep in mind I am very, very behind.

1- Harry Potter-fell asleep the first time. Need to see it in the day time otherwise I struggle.

2-The Kings Speech. Yes, it is R, but I love the royals and Colin Firth what can I say. Besides it is about Victoria's Grandson, Queen Elizabeth's father. (I think this is right)

3-True Grit- I don't know why this is #3 but I really do want to see this. I love Jeff Bridges, if you end up seeing it. Let me know what ya think, will ya?

4-Country Strong- I liked Gwyenth on Glee, I think she will be very good. This will probably be the one movie I end up seeing.

5- I just can't help it, I am a Focker fan. Too funny. Hope it is not stupid.

Holiday Update!

I am going to be at Salon Spectrum tonight! It is located at 7103 Stetson Drive in Scottsdale. I believe the times for this boutique are 5-9, I am excited! I have new bracelets and some really fun vintage items that are new! Lurve me some vintage!

I am winding down for the holidays! If you would like anything, especially bracelets please let me know. I do have plenty of supplies and am getting more in everyday but now is the time to order so I can get them to you in time for the big day!

I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving! Ours was unique this year, yummy food, different circumstances as we were prepping for the wedding of my niece the very next day! It was a crazy week!

Mamie's

I could just tell you that little kids pronounce my name "Amie" like "Mamie". That's really all there is to it. It has stuck throughout my life. But that would be to easy.

My niece Samantha started it. She is 26 now, but when she was 2, her momma would walk into the room and say. "Samantha Jo, who made this big mess?" and Samantha would just look up at her mom and say "Mamie did it, Mamie, Mamie, Mamie".

I was around 18 at the time and would proceed to argue with the 2 year old that it was not me. Which it really wasn't, but it was really funny.

Years later my friends little girl Juliana thought I was the bees knees. She loved me so much and I loved her. She would snuggle up to me and ever so sweetly ask me, "Mamie, would you paint my tingernails". How could I ever refuse that? I couldn't.

By now, most of my friends children and some of my friends call me Mamie. I love it, it's stuck for good.


So it just made sense to me to name my beloved business after this treasured name. Mamie. You know what? I think my grandchildren will probably call me Mamie. I think it's cute and rather appropriate.

I feel like this little guy.

Mom asked me the other day how I was doing it all. I just shrugged and thought "it hasn't been that bad."

Then suddenly this morning I have begun to realize I haven't been doing. For the first time in a long time, I am not ready for Christmas. Like for reals. Really....not.....ready.

This seems to be a problem. Hmmmmmm. Well, it's gonna be a good one, just maybe in a different way this year. Nothing wrong with that.

I love vintage ornaments. I have found some of the greatest at thrift stores. I love decorating with them. I will take some pictures later today to show you my own collection. Such simple ways to add color to your holidays.

It's been a busy weekend. This upcoming week is not much better. Loving this cool time of year here in AZ. So nice, this is the time to live here.

Big News!

At least for me! I am participating in another boutique next weekend. November 18th-20th in Gilbert. I will post more details as I know them. It is a great boutique and I am honored that I was able to get in at this short of notice.

I am also going to be at a boutique at the Salon Spectrum in Scottsdale December 2nd and 9th. Very exciting, but I must say I am going to be busy. Woo hoo!

Grateful.....with picture added

It went so well this weekend. I feel renewed. Washed away are all of my insecurities and doubts. Gone, hopefully for good is the anxiety and I can breathe. I have a picture to post of my booth but I am in a hurry so I will post it later this afternoon. I am grateful to you my readers who are mostly my family and friends for all of your encouragement, love and support. It makes me want to keep creating. Which is what keeps me healthy, so thank you.

Ugh......eyeyieye......I am so close but yet have so far to go. This is what my space looks like....yuck.

I have a few more bracelets to make, waiting for a shipment....it came last night. I didn't get the door.....darn it. I really needed the parts. I was in the zone. I get that way, do you?

Love these. Only made 7, I really have no idea how much inventory I need. Hmmmmm, I will just have to wait and see.

The Old Painted Cottage

I love this blog. Jen inspires me. Her taste is so soft and subtle, I love her love of industrial vintage. In fact, her blog is where I learned that term....industrial vintage. Love that stuff. Check out her blog. She is having a contest to give away this bag! I love it! I am feeling a little lovey today. I need to be feeling less lovey and more busy! I have lots of lil errands to do! Pshaw! Come on Aim- you can do it!




I am getting less ancy and more excited about the show this weekend. For some reason I have had MAJOR anxiety about it. Tons of self doubt smothered with inadequacies. It has not been fun. My poor friends have had to coddle me double time! Fortunately, those feelings are slowly clearing away and I am feeling a lil more confident. I will be posting pictures soon to show the finished products.

We also had 2! Yes 2! New babies come into this world on Scott's side of the family. They were not twins! Welcome Claire and Jett [cutest names ever!] we can't wait to meet you!

We trunk or treated on Saturday, then on Sunday we had our Primary Program at church, I am the chorister and am sooooooo relieved that went off with out a hitch!

We finished the fabulous weekend with phone calls from Meg's, yummy white chili, visits from Holland, Scott's nephew who recently moved to the valley. Jorgensen's our funniest friends stopped by, then we crashed our friend's home who make the yummiest treats called buffyboys, they are like scones and are delicious!

This week we VOTE! And CRAFT, CRAFT, CRAFT! Wish me luck! The boutique is this

Costume Update.....

Ok! We tackled the Halloween Costume dilemma. A few changes were made. Scott is no longer going as The Jet Blue flight attendant. For numerous reasons. He is now recycling the GIANT fairy wings he made Mad's last year donning a white turtle neck and white trousers to become the" Tooth Fairy". I am looking out for one of those change belts that the Sonic workers wear. That would accent his costume perfectly. He is a big party at work each year that he dresses up for.

Ok, Ry decided to be a Titanic victim. She has this great prom dress from last year. It is beautiful and very vintage. Then we bought some fake seaweed looking plant. And last we made a life jacket. We fashined it to look like the ones off of the movie and ironed on this logo. And ironed on TITANIC on the back. So people will know what she is. It will be fabulous! She is going to give her face a little white and purple lipped look to finish it off! I can't wait!

The gladiator is completed and is really neat! I can't wait to post pictures. The princess is recycling another prom dress and she is thrilled to be wearing some long white gloves she picked up a few weeks ago at one of our antique stops.

I absolutely love Halloween! It is my favorite holiday. I still have a few of my Halloween treasures left. I would be happy to give them to you! I just want them to have a good home!

Decades Day.......

It's spirit week this week at Mad's school.

Maddie: Mom would you do my hair like you used to do yours in High School tomorrow morning?

Mom: Sure, but will you let me do it right? Like how I really used to wear my hair? You won't freak out on me will you?

This morning as I was fixing her hair she asked me.....

Maddie: Mom, was this Utah hair or Montana hair?

Mom: Definitely Utah hair, I didn't learn how to tease until we moved.

Gotta love the 80's.

Keep an eye out for Halloween pics. McCormick is going to be a gladiator. Mad's a princess. Ry is......we are not sure yet. Scott is going as the Jet Blue Flight Attendant. Me- well as always, I am a witch. The question is will I be scary this year? Hmmmmm.

These are vintage earrings I have been collecting for the last little while. It's my new hobby, as if I need anything else to collect! I love wearing these though. They make a great conversation piece!
